Topics covered included an update on AFR Philadelphia, insurance concerns before and after a disaster from Terry Mills of Mills Insurance Associates, and a tour of the BELFOR facility with a demonstration of paper and book recovery methods.
The December 15 meeting featured John Thomason, who spoke about the new state “Contract to Assist with Vital Records Recovery Following Disasters,” and Christine Wiseman, who spoke about the importance of completing the Pocket Response Plan, or PReP. On October 18, 2010, the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Alliance for Response was pleased to welcome nearly fifty participants to a free, half-day symposium entitled, “Digital Media: Disaster Preparedness and Recovery.” A summary of the meeting held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is available here.
At the SHER business meeting held at the Beach Institute–African American Cultural Center, Brad Douglas, Commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services, presented a PPT talk on Georgia’s Emergency Records Recovery & Facility Mitigation Services Contract.
Central Pennsylvania’s Alliance for Response group met on July 8, 2010, at the Cumberland County Historical Society Building. Discussion topics included life safety issues and emergency management collaboration for cultural heritage institutions, a disaster vulnerability survey of the host institution, and a discussion on cooperative regional disaster planning and recovery in Central Pennsylvania.
